This award recognizes individuals who play a critical role in advancing safety excellence, whether in the field or supporting operations, and whose daily leadership makes a measurable impact on their teams and projects.

Nomination Criteria

Nominations should reflect the nominee's leadership, job performance, and embodiment of the merit shop philosophy.

Nominations must come from individuals currently employed by an ABC member firm in good standing.
Individuals may only nominate one person per award year.
Nominee cannot nominate themselves.
Provide an endorsement narrative describing leadership skills and roles, job performance, and safety impact.

What the Awards Recognize

Strong nominations should speak to the nominee's field leadership, measurable results, mentorship, and ability to keep safety practices current.

Field Leadership

Proactively identifies hazards, leads by example, and fosters accountability at every level.

Measurable Safety Impact

Demonstrates meaningful contributions to improved safety metrics, incident prevention, jobsite performance, or operational excellence.

Culture & Mentorship

Promotes continuous improvement, mentors others, and reinforces safe practices across teams.

Evolving Safety Practices

Proactively evolves job-style safety practices in response to emerging industry standards, technological advancements, and regulatory changes.

Recipient Eligibility Requirements

Be employed by a current ABC Greater Tennessee member that participates in the STEP Program.
Be an active safety professional in the construction industry, serving in any safety-related role.
Have a minimum of 2 years of construction safety experience.
Be actively working on projects within Middle or East Tennessee.
